We (finally) Got It!

Welcome to our blog, a simple blog documenting our trials and tribulations of home renovation.

As of last Friday my partner and I are homeowners or as we like to say "homowoners." We fell in love with the house back in June and it's been a seven month long process in getting it. We've been outbid, it's been back on the market, pending, back on the market and so on. We were actually at the point of building and had been approved for our construction loan when it came back on the market and we tried one last time. I guess it worked and was meant to be because we got it!

The home was purchased for $15,000 (which my dad says is too much). It's currently estimated at $40,500 but I'm sure we'll raise that once we're done. It'll be a complete renovation as the home is in bad condition, really bad condition. This isn't my first time at the rodeo so I'm prepared for what the next year or so has in store. We're just excited to have our own place and begin working on a project together.
The home was built in 1956 and has a mid century atomic feel with it's chalet sloped ceilings and kitschy carport. As you can see from the photo is has a lot of curb appeal. It sets on a lot of 10,171 square feet and comes in at 1,176 livable square feet (which we are adding on to the home so that will change). It's a 3 bedroom, 1 full bath with an open living/dining/kitchen room. It's the perfect size for two guys and their whiskers.
Welcome to our journey.
